A new way of doing business

We are a collection of some of the most experienced companies of traditional fuel retail combining with the strongest new players in solar, EV charging, Hydrogen and more to provide 360 degrees offer ranging from theoretical brainstorming of new formats to hands on building e-enabled physical structures. Our strapline is Mobilize, Energise, Decarbonize and Solarize. MEDS (Medication for your business)

Mobilize

Firstly, before we can mobilize your company to become an established player in the Future Fuelling environment we should make sure we start with a common understanding of the road ahead and to do that we have training options for getting everyone involved and to understand the opportunities and challenges. Mobilize also refers to e-mobility which is central to our offer. We don’t make cars, but we do conversions for micro mobility and have a well developed electric vehicle charging offer ranging from slow to fast, dumb to smart, AC to DC, domestic to commercial.

Energize

Energize applies to getting everyone motivated and excited to be part of the e-revolution. It also means understanding the technology and we have different training programmes to explain the basics of renewables, battery energy storage and EV charging. Helios Eco Lab is the perfect location for our training because we have examples of all the different energy technologies. Attendees can see first hand how it all works.

Decarbonize

Conforming to Environmental, Social and Governance ESG obligations requires a proper decarbonization strategy. How can businesses reduce or totally remove CO2 emissions from their activities and those of their supply chain? Some of it is easy with simple behaviour change and some requires significant investment but nevertheless still provide a payback over time in terms of running costs and other less visible benefits including of course mitigating climate change.

Solarize

Lastly and perhaps most importantly is to take advantage of the huge benefits of solar energy, the cheapest energy source. Not everywhere has the same sun exposure nor roof space to locate the panels but there are options such as community solar parks. Correctly sizing solar to suit the envisaged loads requires attention, so too matching with the most appropriate inverters. Solar thermal energy to provide how water must also be on the agenda. Adding battery energy storage allows the most optimum solar installation and is essential for off grid application. Battery equipment will likely be the most expensive component of a solar system and correct sizing and choice of battery chemistry is required. We can also advise on and offer lower cost battery options such as recycled batteries.

Decentralized

Historically the goal was to scale up to obtain economies, especially for centralised industries. For oil and gas, there was no other way. Extracting and refining oil in your backyard is not possible. Solar can be centralised too but is perfect for a decentralised approach where it is in your backyard, roof or balcony and that opens up a whole new way of delivering energy. Home charging using rooftop solar could easily be the foremost format for the future. There will be other formats like mobile that are yet to be developed.

Paradigm Shift

If ever there was a game changing paradigm shift, then it's now in the energy, mobility and fuelling sector. A century of fossil fuel dominance unravelling before our eyes. And then there's hydrogen in all its forms, the apparent clean and limitless energy source and energy store but can it overcome its complexity and inefficiency? There is definitely more to come but what is clear is solar and electric mobility are here now and the perfect match.

Opportunities

Why sell solar energy to the grid at wholesale rates and buy back at retail prices? Why not directly consume the power and charge electric vehicles enabled by battery technology? Why have a huge back up diesel generator if you are located where there is intermittent grid power and invest in clean solar with batteries or a much smaller generator. This is just a taste of the many opportunities.

Ensuring success

Legislation and market forces will ensure the energy and mobility transition will continue however there will always be winners and losers. Knowledge, vision and preparation will provide the cushion or launch pad, whatever way you see change. And what will the emerging solar rich economies do? Follow the same path as developed countries? If the technology is cheaper then surely yes but why not leapfrog? Developing markets will likely do what they always do, adapt and improvise. Micro two and three wheel e-mobility will flourish, so too micro conversions of vehicles to electric. New street entrepreneurs will master the technology quickly and new micro and mobile formats will be created.

Creating win win scenarios

At Future Fuelling, we see the energy transition as a win win for society and business and position ourselves as enablers of the solar and electric vehicle (EV) charging revolution, dedicated to innovating new formats and ways of delivering energy and fuelling. Win win also means creating partnership based on synergy, most obviously food shops and other leisure activities that match with the extended dwell times of EV charging but there are others. In fact any energy intensive activity becomes an attractive proposition with chepa solar including pure water creation by desalination / distillation.

Practice what we preach

Our confidence is based upon practicing what we preach, developing actual working prototypes of our ideas at our off grid innovation centre Helios Eco Lab where the building is in effect a solar power station and the car in effect a rolling battery utilising Vehicle to House (V2H) technology. We run open days to share our ideas and run training and brainstorming sessions and now, based upon our experiences we want to offer a 360-degree solution to industry to encompass every aspect of this transformative journey, enabling our clients to harness the many opportunities and exploit the benefits.

The Benefits (Not necessarily in this order or applicable in every case)

  1. Exploit different formats including, autonomous, micro and mobile EV charging

  2. Attract EV drivers and Eco-Conscious customers plus recruit the best young talent.

  3. Revenue Diversification: Why not provide a win win business for your EV driving customers, especially if you are a shopping centre, hotel, restaurant, gym or other leisure business.

  4. Exploit longer dwell time of EV charging with complementary services and food.

  5. Competitive Edge: Incorporating solar and offering EV charging differentiates your business, setting you apart in a rapidly evolving market.

  6. Long-Term Cost Savings: Solar power is the cheapest energy and reduces operational expenses, leading to substantial cost savings over time.

  7. Sustainability show case: Solar EV charging acts as a marketing tool, attracting  positive media coverage and socially responsible investors.

  8. Partnership Opportunities: Collaborate with electric mobility service providers (EMSP) or snack food operators.

  9. Future-Proofing: Embracing solar and EV technology positions your business at the forefront to exploit potentail gains and be on the right side of regulatory shifts.

  10. Fulfil your ESG obligations.

  11. Data-Driven Insights: EV charging is highly digitized and can provide valuable data for informed business decisions and potential loyalty programs

  12. Halt investing heavily in wet fuels that will quickly become stranded assets.

  13. Leverage high profit margins that self generated energy allows

Challenges:

1. Obtaining a suitable high voltage and high current grid supply for fast charging.
